Does anyone hate zumba

Can we have some people who can actually dance teach the class? Helen… I welcome all comments, good or bad. Just so happens we agree on this subject. I own a fitness facility and have never even tought of paying someone close to that!

Thanks for your feedback! I was really starting to think I was the only one. Though, I have to say, I dislike it for other reasons. I have noticed that about Beto, too. He is the founder and immensely wealthy now.

Zumba-ites adore Beto. He is kind of like a mascot or something. Zumba has their spies everywhere and if anyone steps out of line regarding their regs, they get reprimanded and threatened with legal action. I do this 5 times a week plus weight training times a week as well. Sticking to the very upscale Y in town has proven they have better Zumba instructors and they are not ultra sweaty obese people.

I thought about becoming an instructor but it seems like a waste of money considering there are very few openings for Zumba instructors. I am glad I found your blog. First, I think it is fantastic when anyone chooses to abandon the couch and get moving. Walking, swimming, dancing, Zumba…just get moving. So, I will not criticize the peeps who have chosen Zumba for cardio. Zumba offers one day workshops I took the basic and then proclaims that you are now a Zumba instructor by handing you a paper certificate stating that you can use the Zumba license.

You are told that you need to practice your routines over and over, that there is a job waiting for you, blah, blah, blah. At least with a licensed Zumba instructor who is also certified to teach group fitness, you are far less likely ending up with an injury. Perhaps many of the instructors who choose to teach 5 to 7 classes per week cannot find enough time to work on freshening choreo.

You have to have a pro dance background to teach Zumba there. Their classes are immensely popular. More and more women who have reasonably good dance skills, are group fitness certified are creating their own wonderful cardio dance classes. I doubt this trend is a threat to the Zumba Empire at this point, but it will be as time goes on.

Skill and expertise will always win out over a trade name that markets mediocrity. I have been teaching group fit classes for 10 years now and find this class to be borderline useless. When we have master classes at the gym where we compile a bunch of formats, the real classes end and the fit people leave , then the Zumbies come trodding in and it drives me insane. Yes, there are some instructors that are better than others.. Some instructors I believe, have too much ego and just start throwing down- there is no repetition and no cues so no one is following except her 2 best friends up front who wrote the routine with her.

My old gym was one big happy group- no clicks- I bought a home gym and never looked back but would love to find a great Zumba instructor or step or any dance oriented class I could just drop in on once or twice a week. My Zumba instructor is great!!

We have loads of fun and no one feels left out. It feels like a party with the color lights strobing, music blaring and everyone hollering. Since the steps are repeated frequently, it's not too hards to get the routine.

Hey, but I'm in it for some calorie-burning and fun. I hate all group workout activities. I sucked at kickboxing and I'm pretty sure I would suck at Zumba too. I suck at exercise Unless of course you count running after a tazmanian devil like 2 year old around up and down stairs See, and I don't suck at exercise.

I'm fairly sporty and athletic, reasonably coordinated I just don't enjoy Zumba. MJ said:. I'm not very coordinated so I workout at home as a favor to others. On a scale of 1 to 10, my rhythm is a The handler wants me to try a zumba class with her, I am sure I will have a broken leg before the first class is done.

Be sure to take pictures. Please don't try Zumba. It's for women. And that's just my opinion of course. You should stop running for the very same reason why I stopped doing Zumba.

If you notice that running has started to become a chore which you dread every time you have to do it then stop doing it. Running is not the best exercise - the best exercise is the one that you enjoy, the one that you will stick to long-term, it could be walking, or dancing or tennis or whatever exercise makes you feel happy. Now I am not saying that the moment any exercise gets hard you must quit. Definitely not! Running is ridiculously difficult but I enjoy it. It is an exercise which offers me increasing marginal returns of joy.

I can run for years and years and never get tired of it - even though it is difficult. So my point is, find something you love to do and stick to it.

Studies have shown that any type of exercise has great benefits for your health, your brain etc. If you happen to choose running then always remember to smile and wave at other runners!
