Downy Release or a steamer can help get out wrinkles and you can always hang wrinkled clothing in the bathroom and let the steam from a shower take out wrinkles. Both Carnival ships we've traveled have had laundry rooms available with irons and ironing boards -- but I just don't like to spend time in a laundry room when I'm on vacation.
Did enough of that during our days of traveling with children. You can also send wrinkled clothes out to the ship's laundry for pressing only services.
Cost is pretty minimal. Those could have been the confiscated irons, since Stewards are instructed to remove irons they find Nope, don't think so. First of all, I don't think a room steward would be instructed to put an iron out on the floor outside a cabin. Also, I believe I have read somewhere on these boards that pax have requested an iron.
Can't prove it, but I know I've seen this on two Carnival ships over the past few months. Don't plan on ever asking for an iron on a ship. Heck, when I'm on vacation, I'm on vacation -- and if you don't like the wrinkles in my clothes you're sure not going to like the wrinkles in my face. Yes, there is more than one laundry room on the Fantasy class ships.
You can find them on the floorplan map they'll give you on board. Dianne, I think you're right. I've read on the boards before that you can request an iron. I'm glad I saw this thread, I was just wondering yesterday if the Destiny has laundry rooms in case I need to press something. I just didn't remember seeing any on our previous Carnival cruises.
I know we've seen irons outside cabins and we were pretty sure they weren't confiscated by room stewards. They all looked alike. I'm too lazy to do a search on the boards but I'm sure I have read about this more than once on the boards. That is interesting That would be funny and another indication of Carnival not following their own rules I know there will be more than just myself upset over that one!!
Some of the select rooms have irons attached to the bedposts. Ask the concierge or the steward about them. I decided to take one this time as well and that I'd use the ship ironing board but still preferred to use my own iron.
I had it out in the room and the steward came in. I left so he could clean and he not only left the iron there but wrapped the cord neatly. So, I decided to go ahead and iron everything at one time and then I let it cool completely and then packed it away. Truthfully, I do not see the safety difference in irons and flat irons, curling irons, etc. I just wonder if there is something else to the iron ban. Why does it matter what the reason is??? That steward could have lost his job I can see turning a blind eye to something that isn't a safety hazard, but geesh!!!
Geesh yourself Lucy -- I didn't say they didn't have the right to make their own rules I said I wondered if "safety" were the reason. Ball up some tissue paper, and stuff these sections to help them keep their shape. Those bulky suitcases can slip right under the bed. When wrinkle release spray came on the market several years ago, I ran right out and bought a bottle.
I was spending a full day each week ironing in between loads of laundry for the three of us, so I was super excited for this miracle product! But, it does a pretty good job getting wrinkles out of some fabrics. We all know that the steam from a hot shower can help de-wrinkle clothing. You can! Then it gets stuck, even though it looks like it can be turned more.
In most cruise showers, if you push the knob towards the wall and keep turning, you can get the shower water super hot. Then hang any clothing that needs extra attention on the retractable clothing line in the bathroom. Close the bathroom door, and let the steam work its magic while you go off and do something else. Some cruise ships have the anti-theft hangers that you can only use in the closet, so I like to use my beach towel clips to hang my clothes on the line to steam.
Many cruise lines have self-service laundry rooms on board. Along with the washers and dryers, they will have a few irons and ironing boards set up for passengers to use at no charge. The irons are on timers to prevent the risk of fire. Some lines have a laundry room on each floor, but some have only one or two for the entire ship.
